In terms of 3DMark scores nothing, my GTO pulled in 10191 at stock clocks, and some people are getting the same with their GTX's, not even bothered over clocking it yet, will see what it cand o when i get back from Manchester. In terms of gaming performance I couldn't tell you as I haven't seen any side by side comprasions. Most of them can, and will clock to GTX speeds or beyond and they can be had for £180, not as good as people that got them for £165 delivered but still a good deal.

Will have some pictures when i get home as I put the card in, ran a couple of runs of 3DMark05 as I don't have 06 and had to get out the house to drop the old GT off at CEX for them to test and buy it.

Supposedly Crysis' recommend spec is only a 7800GTX/7900GT so this should be able to cope with it easily, I hope. Might need an upgrade when Duke Nukem Forever comes out, will probably be on DX11 when it comes out mind.

Good thing about when we upgrade these is that they'll still be worth quite bit! (I dont see selling this for less than £100 in a years time!) so when DX10 is properly out there we can upgrade with little loss of value!

Roll on Crysis, i think this card will handle it better than my 9800pro it replaces!

Heh, Duke Nukem, Forever Delayed it should be called. I swear I was wearing nappies when it was first announced...

But what I wanted to check was how the GTO OC'd. Not so much against the GTX, but compared to the X1900XT, which is around £40 more expensive, and runs faster than the GTX at stock (at least where it counts to me).

Dabs have corrected the 'mistake'. Annoyingly. I'm now looking for a card around 150-160 and that was the perfect match

Add this http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/V...Bits-Reg.shtml to your registry and you'll be able to do it from within the control panel.

Cool bits only give you a max OC of 800mhz on the memory though mine is at 700/800 right now & i know for a fact the memory has more in it! (dont want to push the core just yet)

I find powerstrip has mroe than enough options for me, and is only a tiny program to install, others use RIvaTuner but I didn't like it that much.

Will have some screenies of the GTO soon. tested it using ATITool's Artifact scanner at 650/760 as I am slowly building up to the GTX speeds, don't fancy whacking 800 straight in there from the off, although it is possible, baby steps at first.

Popped into CEX today to collect the cash, got £141 for my old GT, same guy that served me last time when I dropped my 3700+ off a few months back, I liked the fact that 2 days after they bought it off me for £87 the AMD price cuts came into effect and they were selling it for £85. Anyways, back on topic, will have screenies tonight, pleased with it at stock, going to be over the moon when the overclocked benchmarks come in.

Powerstrip, rivatuner or ATiTool will allow you to push it much further. despite the name ATiTool is probably the best for purely finding the max OC. It'll even do it automatically and scan for artifacts, which is good if you're lazy or just want an idea of where to start clocking manually from.

Anyway I'm off to ind a 7900GTX BIOS, as just modding the voltage table didn't seem to take on my 7950GT

There should have everything you require, I don't know whether to flash the BIOS of the GTO or not, quite happy with the performance of the GTO at GTX speeds and if I flash the BIOS I don't need powerstrip running.

Yeah, I don't think the vendor codes matter, I remember my old Leadtek 7800GTX used to show up as an MSI in one set of drivers, even though I hadn't flashed the BIOS.

    Will the 7950GT flash to a 7900GTX?

Same PCB, same samsung RAM, same core, boots and runs easily at GTX speed. So I dont see why it wouldn't. I'll try it a little later, when I have an hour spare in case I bork something.

For the sake of having an OC utility at startup i'm not flashing mine, use coolbits & you get 'fairly' high anyway & not extra service running!

I never got on with ATI tool, found it a bit clunky, dont get me started on powerstrip! rivatuner seems less obtrusive than both of them but until 700/800 isn't enough for games i think i'll leave as is!

I like ATI Tool because of the artefact scanner, still taking baby steps and I'm at 690/802 at the moment, been running for 33 minutes without errors, like leaving it for an hour before I think it's good for that clock, last night it wouldn't even run at 680, now it's stable at 690, hoping to get 700 like most others, maybe a bit more. haven't even played a single game since it's been installed, just been searching for the highest overclock.

Well I can catergorically say, flashing a 7950GT to a GTX, using a Rev .02 GTX BIOS. Failed spectacularly. Massive display correction, and other nastiness.

I'm currently using the 7800GT, I just sold to nicomach, to create a bat file to flash the 7950 back blindly, as thanks to zalmans chunky coolers, I cant fit both cards in my mobo

Hope this will work once flashed back, or come lunch time tomorrow I wont have a GFX card
