    Which 22” monitor?

I’m on the look out for a 22” monitor. I’ve had a look around and most of the manufactures have just or about to release 22”ers soon.

I’m looking to spend around £250 to £300 and I would prefer to have 8bit colour (as I do some graphics work).

I like the look of the BenQ FP222W but I would prefer the FP222WH (which has HDMI) but I'm unsure if that will make it to the UK.

If anyone has any other suggestions that would be great.

Obviously with you wanting such a large monitor the choices are more limited than if you were wanting a 19" TFT and are even more limited by your budget. I had a quick look at Scan and there seems to be 3 monitors that fit your requirements and price range, the Viewsonic VX2235wm is the weakest on pure specs but Viewsonic TFTs tend to be decent on the whole, then theres the Asus MW221U which is the fastest of the 3 with a response time of 2ms and finally the Iiyama PLE2200WS-B has the best contrast ratio with the same response as the Viewsonic and same brightness as the Asus as well being the cheapest of the 3. I hope this helps and whichever you choose they are all pretty nice.

I have the Asus MW221U and I can tell you its an fantastic piece of hardware. The picture quality itself is great, and gaming is just astonishing, no ghosting whatsoever. Its a TN Panel like most of the other 22" in the market so that means you wont have good viewing angles, but I never really notice the diffrence anyway.

Its priced at an reasonable level and looks the part too!

Dose anyone have a Samsung 225BW?

It has 16.7 colours and a good stand but I want to know what it’s like in the real world.

On a side note can all LCD monitors be rotated to landscape if you have the right software?

The Samsung is a great screen, bright crisp colours once you enable the magic colour thing.

Backlight bleed has never been a problem for me, but if you are a stickler for that kind of thing, then look elsewhere.

    Overall, its great

depends what you mean. you can rotate all monitors certainly using nvidia drivers. but wether the stand will allow the screen to actually rotate or if you'll end up lying it on its side is another matter

    Smile

So the Samsung 225BW is top of my list now, but the list changes on a day basis.

More feedback on the 225BW would be good as well as links to reviews. I would like to know how well the colours of the 225BW compare to MVA and IPS type panels. I know that it’s a TN panel but most others have 6 bit colours but it has 8 bit colours.

And thanks to MadduckUK for clearing up the rotating question. It wasn’t the clearest question as I meant rotating to portrait not landscape.http://forums.hexus.net/images/smilies/oops.gif
Also that im may be getting a mounting are at some point.

Ive had my 22" Samsung since November and mine has been flawless. No dead pixels and no backlight bleed issues. The excellent thing about the Samsung stand, when compared to the monitors above is that it has a vertical (height) adjustment - usually only very high end monitors have this.

I bought mine from http://www.cclonline.com/product-inf...ufacturer_id=0 for £269.99, when it was on a special 1 day only offer. Its now in stock for £289.99.
