According to DailyTech official specs for R600 have been released...

Late yesterday DailyTech was briefed on the final details for the upcoming R600 retail specifications, just in time for everyone to go on vacation for Chinese New Year.

AMD's guidance claims R600 will feature 700 million transistors. By comparison, the Radeon X1900 series R580 GPU incorporated 384 million transistors into its design; the half-generation before that, R520, only featured 320 million.

As disclosed by DailyTech earlier this year, the GPU features a full 512-bit memory interface with support for GDDR3 and GDDR4. R580 was also similar in this regard as it supported GDDR3 and GDDR4......

I would be less concerned about the sheer size of the card than it's reported power consumption, if you thought the 8800GTX was a bit power hungry the R600 is meant to be in a different league, mostly due to running at a higher clock speed and the fact that ATi stuff tend sot run hotter anyway.

The 8800GTX isn't much worse than a X1900XTX.......

Anyways the specs look great, now we just need to see some benchies. I hope it's worth the wait, my X1800XT is getting a tad slowwwww.

I know that this is going to hurt, but I'm going ro go for the 2900XTX, and the best of 500 quid. Ouch.

Looks like a beast, cant believe people are talking about performance already.. Some people should use there brains.

Although this is a little gutting since it will probably push price drops back further, if there are problems or issues I would rather them sort it out and release a better product and wait for that better product, rather than buy a product that comes out sooner which isn't quite right. At the end of the day I would rather spend the money on somthing thats right and works better than it would have done, than pay for something that was rushed out in a half arsed way.

I think nVidia are doing pretty well on pricing atm....£200 for a near-top end card is pretty nice

I'm waiting for the 8900/R600 anyway - nothing runs slowly for me now and pricing will only drop as a result.

Yes, though that looks like the system builder only one. The retail card will be smaller I think.
