    this happens to me too...

i find that the output flips over to the other DVI port on the GFX card, so i plug 2 things in (Monitor and TV) and everything gets displayed on the TV so i change the setting back so that the monitor is the primary device again.....

    Hmm, that's interesting TAKTAK.
I do try plugging the monitor into both DVI ports once windows has loaded, but neither gets a signal. I could try plugging in my old CRT into the other port before booting to see if that works, but then it wouldn't help when the PC is already on and I disconnect it.

I will give it a go though.

I've got this same problem too right now, it's making me tear my hair out.

I even reformatted the pc and it's still happening straight away!! So I think it's something hardware-related. I think it may mean the card or psu is faulty but i don't want to shell out just on a hunch.

Re: Graphics Card stops sending signal to monitor when Windows boots to Desktop - Hel

nope, i tried playing with the (limited) bios option, namely the one choosing pci or peg and that did nothing.

Turned off hardware acceleration, write combining and use the driver cleaner and still nada. It didn't make sense when it started to do this literally overnight, it makes less sense it does it after a fresh install :s

It's problem many have encountered as i've noted through google but there doesn't seem to be any solution at all ffs.

can you try the card in a different system to ensure the card is not at fault?

also try taking the card out and giving the connectors a wipe... as they can sometimes oxidise...

tried it, to no avail. I sadly don't have anyone I know who has a mobo with a pci-i port to test..

Re: Graphics Card stops sending signal to monitor when Windows boots to Desktop - Hel

it could just be that the card is b0rked

    anychance of RMAing it?

obv you would want to make sure that it definatly is b0rked before RMAing otherwise you could end up with a hefty shipping cost for no reason if it turns out that it's the mobo (unless you bought it from a store that is accessable on foot? mebbe yoyo with you being in london...?)

who manufacturered the card? XFX? BFG?

it's point of view (or something like that)

I don't think it's 'b0rked' (lol) because I can still use it when i'm using Window's native drivers or safe mode - or does it? Because it seems to be avoiding an accelerated state if you understand.

just in case someone stumbles across this problem too

Looks like my card was done for, risked a 8800GT and it's all working now.

Re: Graphics Card stops sending signal to monitor when Windows boots to Desktop - Hel

First up, let me just say that I'm glad I'm not the only one suffering this problem!

I just got an LG L226WTQ today and when this problem first occured I assumed it was because I'd forgotten to set the resolution and refresh rate to the LCD's native settings before unplugging my old CRT (I had). Unfortunately rectifying this made no difference and, just as described in the original post, as soon as the Windows boot goes from the loading screen to the welcome screen everything goes black. The really weird thing is that if I unplug the DVI cable from the back of the graphics card and immediately plug it back in again a picture appears and everything works perfectly!

I don't believe that this problem is related to either my graphics cards or their drivers (I'm using Forceware 175.19) as everything was working perfectly with the old CRT. It is only since I plugged in this LG monitor that the problem has appeared. I have not downloaded or installed anything between swapping the two monitors. Both Windows and the Nvidia control panel recognise the monitor as a L226WTQ.

I am absolutely stumped as to what's causing this, and although I could live with the cable pulling work around, I'd rather not!

    Suggestions/comments?

    Wow Deathbunny,
It seems like you've got the opposite of what I have. I wish I could get a signal by plugging the cable back in!

I still have had no joy on resolving this issue and it's extremely frustrating. If you get a response from LG please let me know.

Well I never got a response from LG's customer service, despite phoning them and emailing them several times

However, I have solved my problem Turns out that the monitor, for whatever reason, objected to my SLi setup when it was first installed. Out of curiosity more than anything else, I disabled SLi, rebooted, and the monitor worked perfectly. I then re-enabled SLi, rebooted, and everything worked perfectly again. I have not had any problems from since then. If you have an SLi rig then I suggest you give this a go!
