i think it is confirmed .
Never heard of OCZ selling cards under their name :S
OCZ 8800gtx - Google Search
only gtx. I never seen others either.
hi i contacted the seller of the item he said that i have installed the wrong drivers.I didnt get any drivers with my purchase.I installed the driver package from nvidia 's website .if anyone can find me the ocz drivers pls let me know.thx
nvidia drivers should work fine.
Firstly OCZ dont make gfx cards
Here's there product list:
OCZ Technology | Products
Secondly the drivers shouldnt make a difference....just install the latest from nvidia.
OCZ Technology | Products | Video Cards
OCZ Technology | Products | Video Cards | OCZ GeForce 8800GTX GPU
All from your first link.
Yes they do - look at the menu down the side!
OCZ Technology | Products | Video Cards | OCZ GeForce 8800GTX GPU
Anyways, does the cooler sticker match the one you have on your gtx? OCZ, unlike their ram series, dont physically make these cards themselves, and to be honest its unlikely that they even make their own bios for them....with many of these things they simply pay for a license with another manufacturer for them to make ocz some 'graphics cards*' (*insert random product here) and then slap a big OCZ sticker on it. So your 'xfx' card likely IS an ocz card, if the sticker on the cooler matches and the stickers with serial numbers etc on the back of the card all match the ocz product.
The vendor from ebay telling you its your drivers just shows that he doesnt know what he's talking about, as others have said, any for your card from the nvidia site will do.
If the installed bios on the card has xfx branding, then it doesnt matter what windows program you use to check, thats what it will be flagged as - gpu-z or everest will say the exact same thing, as theyre reading the exact same bios string.
The key here is, does your physical card cooler have an XFX logo on it, or and OCZ branded one? and do the sticker on the back of the physical card have ocz serial numbers on them?
If yes, then its a genuine ocz card, regardless of bios, as its an oem card thats rebranded. If the stickers etc are all xfx too, then its not an ocz card. Worth a check for warranty purposes at least. (if it helps, I have a PALIT branded 8800gts card, but in gpu-z it shows as being made by 'Nvidia' - simply because, like ocz, they buy generic cards from someone else and rebadge them....)
At the end of the day, is the card fully functional with no problems, and does it benchmark/perform as an 8800gtx should? If yes, then you simply have to decide if the price you paid that ebay fella is one that your happy with for a gtx, regardless of card manufacturer. If ocz branding or the ocz warranty is important to you (I can see why the warranty would be), then check the cooler/serials on the outside of the card......maybe post some photos if your not sure, we're happy to help, and if its NOT an ocz card then you can take it up with the seller.....
*edit* gah moogle posted while I was typing
hi guys i contacted OCZ .here is the reply i got.
what they have done is they fitted the OCZ cooler on top of a xfx card and send it out as a replacement. i paid £213 inc postage to the ebay seller.OCZ had to source replacement cards from XFX after our initial
manufacturing stage. These cards passed our QC and were only sent out as RMA
replacements, never sold to customers on the open market.
You were sold a replacement for an OCZ 8800 GTX that we sourced from
XFX. This is a quality card that meets all of our requirements. Use the
drivers from NVidia.com for this card, as they are the correct
drivers.
You do, of course, realise that ALL 8800 cards are manufactured by Foxconn or Flextronics, and then shipped to the brand name firm to detail (e.g. put the cooler on) and box.
