    Cooler?

    Hi,

I'm looking for a cooler for my Q6600 (unfortunately has a VID of 1.325v )

I'm considering either the Arctic Freezer 7 or the Cooler Master TX2, from what i understand they perform similarly, but do any of you guys have any first hand experience with either?

    Thanks

    Re: Cooler?

I have the arctic freezer 7, its a very good cooler for the price and stays practically silent at low rpm (about 900rpm). The only problem is that it can get a bit loud when hits high rpm (about 2000rpm).

Hi, thanks for the reply, can you tell me what CFM the fan on the Pro Freezer is?

Also, has anybody used one with a Q6600?

    Thanks

    Re: Cooler?

I have the freezer 7 and it barely works with the fan set as low as 900rpm and it's noisey as sin above 1600rpm.

Some people use them on Q6600's but you are far better off spending a few more pounds on a scythe mine. It's near as dammit silent and works a lot better than the freezer.

i would reccomend either a scythe Mine or a TRUE TBH, both much better than the freezer, and give you plenty 'o headroom for an O/C

    Cheers.

    Re: Cooler?

Oh, I meant the mine would fit, the TRUE is another question lol

If the TRUE does fit though a late loon/nexus at 9v would be good

    Re: Cooler?

Tbh, the reason i was looking at the AC 7 was cause im only looking to get to 3GHz~ - more would be a bonus. However, I am looking to sell my rig hopefully, so that i can get - hopefully - a Q6600 or Q6700 and hit a massive overclock with a TRUE. Think i might just get an AC 7 to be safe. Reason being, its cheap, will definitely fit and should be pretty quiet.

    Re: Cooler?

If you want 'ultra' cooling you cant go far wrong with the Thermalright Ultra 120 eXtreme and fit it with a good 120mm fan; you will get the q6600 up to 3.6GHz+ no problem.

Hi, yeah, i ordered a Noctua Fan with it

It's brilliant too, i've managed to hit 3.2GHz (400*8) with a max temp of 57oC, with the Ram in sync, I'm loving it
