Question PC seems to power up, but no image output

My PC was built about 10 months ago, the only change occuring with the installation of a graphics card about 7 months ago.

    Q6600
    ASUS P5K-E
    2x Crucial Ballistix 1GB PC2-6400
    Corsair HX620W
    Nvidia 8800GT

I turned off the computer last night with no problems. This morning I tried turning it on, the lights on the front went on and I heard all the fans starting up. However, there was no image on the screen.

I removed the HDDs and CD drive, still no boot up. Tried each RAM module seperately. Tried a different monitor, different cables for the monitor and a different graphics card, all to no avail. I have also tried a graphics card which is definitely working in the other PCI Express x16 slot.

I have also reset CMOS, still no sign of an image.

Unfortunately, I do not have an available chassis speaker, so I cannot listen for BIOS beeps.

If there is anything else you think I have missed out I would be grateful to hear it and try it out.

    Thanks

You really do need a PC speaker to find out what the problem is.

It could be the motherboard or the CPU... at the outside it could also be the PSU (but I doubt that)

If you have the time take it all out the case and set it back up outside of the case and retry.

Was the CPU overclocked? If so what to and what where your temps?

It could be the PSU - I've had times when everything spins up, but that's it... and it was the PSU that had gone. worth checking anyway

Sounds like the mobo has gone. Had same problem with mine. Took it to local PC store (i know, it was the cheapest option before you flame me ) and they confirmed mobo was dead.

Re: PC seems to power up, but no image output

Just tried removing everything (except CPU + HSF) from the motherboard and removing the board from the case, then reseating everything. Still the same.

CPU was OC'd to an unadventurous 3GHz, the temps were never greater than 45 degrees.

I guess I'll try to get hold of a chassis speaker - if anybody could give me an idea as to where I can buy one easily, I would be grateful - and a spare PSU tomorrow and see if I can come up with any more answers to narrow it down.
