    HD4850 Dual Monitor

    Hey Hexus,

What are the implications of a dual monitor setup? I have a HD4850 graphics card (which I believe supports this, as it has two DVI ports) and two monitors, although one monitor is widescreen and the other is square.

Would there be any problems in using two monitors of different sizes like this?

Also, are there any other considerations should I take towards doing this? Or is it just a simple plug and play thing? I really don't know.

Oh, and when using a Wacom with a setup like this, would it work across both screens?

    Cheers.

There is no problem setting up two different sized screens, but they will run at a lower resolution (the one of the smaller monitor)

and yes a graphics tablet will run over two monitors as it acts as one

    It's 4.98*

    Thanks for the quick reply!

Does the graphics card generally recognise the two monitors automatically or will I have to fiddle with things myself?

it won't take the smaller resolution..
it'll run each monitor at its native resolution unless you use 'clone'.

Which card for dual monitor setup?

Sorry to piggyback on this thread, I can't find a "post" option for some reason.

I have a dell PC with, apparently 2x chipset for graphics and no card. I have a tft monitor and just bought a second one as I need it to play online poker. Can anyone tell me what type of graphics card I would need. Here's the info I have so far:

    1. I won't really use it for gaming so it doesn;t need to be too fancy, just allow me to use the monitors as one giant desktop.
    2. As mentioned above, both monitors are TFT and have a vga fitting ( for the blue 15 pin socket, sorry i'm so naive!).
    3. I'm trying to keep costs as low as possible.
    4. I don't know if I have a pci, pcie or agp interface on the motherboard and I'm not sure where or ho to check.

I hope someone can help and look forward to hearing from you.

    Cheers

    Steve

    Re: HD4850 Dual Monitor

Download CPU-z from here - click

then click the mainboard tab and post the model number here, then we can work out what slot you have for us to spec you a graphics card. Why do you need 2 monitors for online poker though?
