    Hmm interesting that.

I did flash mine to a more recent BIOS and it didn't fix the problem. Maybe the BIOS chip itself is dodgy, but then you used your original BIOS chip and it fixed the issue. Strange.

Anyway, my boards' in Asus' hands right now. Awaiting for a relpy

I also got this problem with this motherboard! The problem first showed up 10 months ago. At the time I thought it was due to an internal card reader, because after removing it the problem went away. But the problem showed up again yesterday when I swapped my GeForce8500 for a GeForce8600GTS. I unplugged every single component except the CPU. But after being powered for 3-4 seconds it powered down.

My next guess was a "short", or, a bad "ground". I took a single screw out and replaced it with another similar one. Wow, that worked. Not good. I did two more successful power ups. I knew it could be a fluke. I connected everything bake together, and, no go, the problem was back. Next, I removed the board and added 2 mounting screw holes, since my case had only the ones needed for a normal ATX board. That didn't do it. For fun, I connected the mouse, keyboard, video cable. Well well, now my computer boots again, with the new video card . Could it be that a part of this board is badly grounded?

Something is messed-up real good with this board. I'm contacting Asus now.
