PC is switching off when plugging a second monitor in.

Hello,

I've just built a new rig and have come across a rather serious problem when connecting my second monitor (TV) in. The second I plug it in the computer either doesn't boot or nothing comes out on either monitor, with the graphics card spinning at full speed. The computer works fine with games (with 1 monitor), so I assume its either a faulty GFX card or a BIOS setting needs changing. Also I have tested both ports with my monitor to eliminate there being a faulty port.

My setup is as follows:
Intel Q9550 @ 2.83MHz (Default)
Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R motherboard
4GB PC-8500 OCZ Dominator Memory
512MB Sapphire Radeon HD 4870
600W Zalman Modular Power Supply

try to put this VGA into another PC and then check again. if the problem still persists then it would be most probably the fault of VGA
