    System wont boot

    Hey guys and gals,

Was looking for some help, before I went on my holidays the family PC decided to start playing up. I wasnt at home when I got told about it so havent had a chance to look at it until today. When I turn the PC on, everything spins up then get a series of about 3 beeps, nothing displays on the screen and the system wont boot.

Motherboard is an AN8, I am not sure on the rest as it is quite old.

    Any ideas?

About 3 beeps? Could you be more precise (one long two short or 3 short for example) thats trying to tell you where in the boot sequence its failing.

This might be able to tell you more, try to find out what bios they use then choose the appropriate section on the right hand side.

    Re: System wont boot

Generally three beeps is a ram problem........try removing one stick and see if it boots, then try the other.........if you only have one stick then you'll need to get alternate ram to see if it will boot.

    Re: System wont boot

I dont think its RAM, after speaking to my step dad, he messed with some cables unplugging them etc so I think he has reconnected them incorrectly. I will see what mess he has made and then go from there.

Too tired/ jet lagged still at the moment to think straight.
