    USB Ports Not Working!!!

I've got an Acer Aspire 5920G and recently all the usb ports stopped working after a BSOD. After restoring the computer to last known good configuration the ports are dead and I'm getting the following error in device manager

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

I've tried reinstalling the device drivers for the chipset, windows update and changing the registry information for the usb controller but all have failed. Any suggestions on how to fix this as I really dont fancy performing a complete reformat when win 7 is out in a few weeks

    Re: USB Ports Not Working!!!

after further examination of the registry keys for the usb controller set I am unable to access the properties key as it says an error is preventing the key from being opened and access is denied. any idea what could have caused this?

    Re: USB Ports Not Working!!!

ok problem solved. after updating kaspersky to 2010, shutting down the laptop, removing the power supply and the battery, leaving it a min and restarting the computer everything is fine now. Very strange and i'd love to know what happened
