    Torrents stuck at 99%

This has happened on a couple of torrents recently - it will get stuck at 99%.
I've turned off uTorrent to go and restart it, but when I do it says that it is still running.
So I check the task manager and uTorrent is using like 700,000k of RAM, far far too much, and the task refuses to end.

    Any help with this?

I've now rebooted and restarted utorrent, apparently I didn't download anything off the torrent because it's restarted.

I've downloaded it twice over and it's stuck on 99% again.

Did you change any of the advanced settings? If so, reset them to default.

It also may be a case of availability - no one in the swarm is 100% you know. Hence why it gets stuck at 99%.

That's the odd thing, I hadn't changed a thing, and there are tons of seeders.

    Re: Torrents stuck at 99%

Urban legend has it that "jolly roger" torrents stopping at 99% are planted by the music/film/software industry hence my question above.

Chances are the final 1% is something like a readme file or a thumbs.db - does it work without the final 1%

There is definitely zero chance of it being a 'plant'.
Its happened on a torrent where there is only one file to be downloaded too.

    Re: Torrents stuck at 99%

What AV do you have? Try disabling it while you download to see if it completes - I have similar problems with both Kaspersky and Eset on Vista and 7 - Kaspersky eats loads of memory and can crash programs, Eset eats CPU cycles and can crash programs and causes some downloads, especially exes to get stuck at 99ish% for ages even if they're only a few MB.

You could try reinstall utorrent or trying different torrent program. Seems a little odd

    Re: Torrents stuck at 99%

Try stopping the torrents, hitting Force Check on them, and starting them again. If uTorrent gets confused, these sorts of things can be the result.
