    system spins up, no display

My pc has been working fine. Turned it off one night as normal, turned it on the next morning and it spins up but I keep getting no signal from my monitor.

I managed to get a display on it once by resetting the bios a few times(it did come up saying it had failed to load the bios, and asked if I wanted to use default settings or enter setup). All was then fine until I turned it off again.

I haven't changed anything and I now cannot get the display again. Everything seems to spin up fine.
I've tried resetting the bios, removing each of my memory sticks and trying one at a time in different slots, unplugging each hard drive and trying one at a time to no avail.

Apart from checking the graphics card(which was working fine, and not sure if I have a spare lying round), anything else I can do?
Can a dead bios battery cause this?(I wondered if it may be because the default settings tell it to look for an agp card rather than a pci-e).

I normally run a dual boot setup, with XP and windows 7(I had been running the RC1 version of W7 and install the full version on the 1 time I managed to get it to boot properly).
I do know everything, just not all at once. It's a virtual memory problem.

Re: system spins up, no display

For the sake of a couple of quid its certainly worth getting a new cmos battery.

I would expect it to use whichever slot has a card in it though not "randomly" choose one.
