Hi,
Hope you can help.
I have windows 7 64bit installed and all was well till last night.
It seems a windows update was downloaded and when i turned of my pc it was installing the update - the usual blue screen showing installing updates etc.
It was taking a long time and to me it seems it had crashed, froze up as I couldnt move the mouse.
Yes I know it says you shouldnt turn of the pc while the update was installing but to me it seemed like it had crashed and frozen up.
So I decided to turn the pc off and left it the following day to check the pc.
I turn the pc on and select windows 7 from my list - I have dual boot setup
I get the message that windows didnt start properly so I select start normally - I get the swirly logo appear and then just a black screen with the cursor which does respond to me moving the mouse.
It just stays on the black screen with the cursor and doest go to the next step of the login screen.
I'm thinking due to the windows update not installing correctly and me turning the pc off this has contributed to it hanging on the black screen.
I have tried to boot in safe mode to see if the same problem happens which it doesnt, I can login via safe mode fine and have login screen available and have gone into windows fine via safe mode.
Just to add I tried to do a restore point but as I turned it off I havent the option to do this - bad move by me
Any ideas as to what I can do to resolve this black screen I'm getting?
To confirm again, this has happened after a windows update trying to install but as I felt it had crashed I turned the pc off - no graphics drivers etc have been installed for a long time - only this windows update
Hope you can help, many thanks
