    Problem with speakers

I have some Hercules XPS 2.060 and for some reason today they won't give any sound out. I have attached headphones to my laptop to see if it was the problem- no issues. But When I plug the speakers into the headphone jack nothing. Now if I connect some headphones to the speakers I get music.

Is it possible for the speaker to go like that? But still be able to connect headphones and hear music?

Well obviously it IS possible because it has happened to you! Causes? WEll the common failure point that would affect both speajers would be the speaker power supply. You say you are plugging the headphones into the speakers? That would be possible if the headphone output is just taken from the input - but withought seeeing a schematic of the amplifiers etc it is hard to say what is going on.

Having just looked at the mfrs website, my first point of investigation would be the external PSU.

The psu for the speaker works as there is a green light on top of it, and where the on switch is (doubles as the volume) there is a blue power light.

Have you checked the cables and confirmed that you are putting in the correct speaker cable into the PC? I would probably just have a quick check and re-se the cables.
