Exclamation Registry file is missing or corrupt!!

    Hello forum,

I recently have had several boot errors which I managed to force my way through after some effort, but now I received BSOD so much I had to do a Clean Install of Windows Vista.

Now after finishing a perfectly clean installation, I still receive the following boot error:

    Windows Boot Manager
    0xc00000e9
    file: \Windows\system32\config\system
info: Windows failed to load because the system registry file is missing or corrupt.

How can this be possible after doing a clean installation? I'm booting from default system config as well, with no overclock or change to the BIOS whatsoever.

I've tried "Repair windows" with the installation CD, and now I'm running a Windows Memory Diagnostics...

I hope that someone can help with this problem, thank you.

Have you got any external devices connected?

Once you've booted (assuming you can and your other thread is the same machine) search for *.log files and see if they unearth the issue causing the warning.

Where are the .log files that I need to look at?

    Sorry, thanks

Windows Explorer - show all hidden files - then Search (windows key + f) for "*.log"

The logs you want are the most recent files.

Your initial error suggests the registry is corrupt. Something, generally, only a reinstall will solve. Odd that you're getting it on a fresh install though.

How did you reinstall? Did you wipe the HDD and start afresh?

I wiped the HDD and started fresh... I had this problem so I did a clean install a SECOND time...

I opened my PC and made sure the cables were tight, then everything was fine...

Everything has been fine until I removed my CPU to clean the thermal compound off and replace it.... Then I rebooted and had disk read errors and this memory errors........ Then I opened up and pushed the cables in one more time, and now it works again, so I'm assuming it is some sort of wire shortage or something odd like that...

Now I'm struggling to figure out why moving windows around causes my CPU usage to shoot up, is that normal? I just have a feeling that something is wrong with my PC.

    Thanks
