hey i'm just wondering, the HDs plugged into the faulty ports will they just..stop working ? as in, can i use them up until the point they fail ?
i had a RAID5 array using them which failed several times and had to be rebuilt before i gave up but i'm thinking of just using it in JBOD setup, so say 1 of the ports spazzes out again i won't lose anything, the HD will just fail to show up ?
i'm running out of HD space using the other 2 ports and use the micron ports for SSD and ROM drive
Your drives won't malfunction given that you can get a motherboard replacement in 1/2 months time.

ports 3 and 4 failed 4 times (twice each), when i built a RAID5 array, which was a lovely few weeks of rebuilding..1 of those it rebuilt for 4 days then failed no more than 3h later..so fun!
In that case i would query if its a straight up faulty board instead. According to Intel the SB problem should only start to cause problems after ~3 years of usage, which even then is dependant on how cool your SB has been kept and so on.

just my luck. yeah i think it must be defective because only DIMM slots 1 and 2 work.
also, most fan headers don't get a reading
