eSATA card problem

Got a new eSATA card. It's this one: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=270665027425 Made sure jumper settings were correct before installing.

When booting, hangs at Windows loading screen for about five minutes. Then one of several things happens:

1) Drive shows up as "needs to be formatted".
2) Drive shows up in Comp Mgmt and Explorer but lag is very very very slow. As in, takes 1 min to load file structure, etc. Can't work out transfer speed because it lags/hangs for 30 seconds every 5 seconds.

The drive works fine by USB, just not with the eSATA card. I have tried two cables and neither works.

What the hell is wrong with this thing?!
