Hans, depending on your budget, you might want to go upnarket a bit

Costs quite a bit more (might be less in the US) but Black Magic design are a very well known manufacturer in Pro and semi-pro video applications. Something you might want to think about if faffing around with USB isn't your style. I guess a lot depends on how much you have to do, but sometimes it is worth paying more for a pro product.

If you mean the "Intensity Pro - HDMI Capture Card with S-Video, Composite & HD/SD Component I/O", which is USD 190.00, I cannot spend that kind of money at this moment, since I would not be able to use all the advantages of that card presently. Right now, I only need my 50 or so VSH tapes converted.

    Thanks, anyway.

Yes, that was it. Fair enough, it is considerably more than the devices mentioned earlier, but sometimes its worth payinng the extra to get the result you want. That said, the USB devices are so inexpensive it is worth trying on the grounds of little to lose!

Good luck with it - let us know how you get on!

Yes, in my case now, it does not pay to purchase a card that may be obsolete when I get around to doing more A/V stuff. However, I will keep the info about the card in my database for future perusal.
