Mic on shuttle sn45g

Hi,
I have tried using my microphone (for webcam chatting) on my shuttle sn45g and it doesnt work at all! i plugged the mic into another computer to test its ok (it is). So i tried to plug it into the front port and set the input to "mic" (the outputs were all un-muted and set to max) and nothing happend. I set the input to mic2 nothing happend. I set the input to all the differnt ones i could find and nothing happend, i even tried using the mic in the line in and mic port on the rear, still didnt work. Its using a nforce 2 ultra soundstorm chipset, and as far as i know i have the latest drivers.

The only issue i could see is that I have a TV card inside the pc that uses the Cd audio internal port to play sound when thats running, but at the time of testing it wasnt going. Also i have quad speakers but this also shouldnt be a problem? any ideas as to how i can get the microphone port working?

Don't know if this'll be of any help to you as it sounds like you've tried every combination but this is how i've got the nVdia control panel on my sn45g set up to use my mic for teamspeak and msn -
