laptop cd drive Driver is missing!!!!

If you want others to find you a driver, it would probably be a good idea to help them by telling them the make and model of laptop as this will save them alot of trouble most likeley.

its a sony vaio (havent got the model number with me), cd-RW / DVD drive, but the driver is!!!

since when have you needed to have drivers for drives? last time i checked, windows did not need any drivers for cd drives

whats the problem with the drive that makes you think you need drivers for it?

well when i put a cd in my drive, it does not read, and when i go to the system window it says driver is missing!!!!!!!

have you tried removing the device from device manager and rebooting to see if that installs it correctly?

You han't gone round deleting any ASAPI files have you?

i did deleted the drive from the device manager and reboot, when boots it says it fund a CD drive, but doesnt work, and its back in the device manager with a yellow question mark over it.

(i had the W32.blaster.worm, would that delete the driver)

you know the 'update driver' option in device manager, will that search the internet for the driver?

Try it, it usually finds new drivers or it tells you that it cant find a better driver

tried that didnt work, if i install bios again will it work.
i havent got the original windows cd key, if i installl diffrent windows will that work?
