Are you sure you haven't got any important stuff to save? Thats what I thought recently, reformatted the hard drive, re-installed Windows then realised I'd forgotten about my email address book - wiped out. Doh!
I guess your intention is to reformat the drive and re-install Windows?

Yup sure is
What i do so i keep most of my important files and games e.t.c. is use this program
http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/
It is called PE Builder and what it does is use your Windows XP CD (SP1 or higher) and strips some files from it to make a Bootable operating system, which you can burn from within the program.
I then boot with this disc and delete the following folders
Windows
Document and settings
And any folders that are in the program files folder that have anything to do with windows i.e. internet explorer, movie maker, outlook express, windows media player e.t.c.
Also obviously any other folders you dont want anymore.
Then i boot with the Windows XP cd or boot disk and install onto the HD again, a new copy of windows.
The existing files on your hard drive that have not been deleted should still be there.
Hope this helps you.
Well i know it's not a format but it's a much better way of keeping important files while deleting any bloated OS you have.
