Half Life sticks on surface access tunnel (We've Got Hostiles)

I've got a problem with the copy of Half Life I downloaded from Steam yesterday using my original CD key. When the next part of the We've Got Hostiles level loads (about halfway up the elevator shaft for surface access) after you've cleared the room of soldiers, the elevator sticks halfway up, gradually draining HEV power and health until you die.

This is really pi**ing me off, please tell me there's a way around it. I have to use the downloaded version as my CD is too old to be recognised.

I did that numerous times, what (may) have solved it was that I tried jumping around on the lift. It seemed to work, must be why I've only just finished playing at 10 past 1 I love this game.

glad you sorted it its well worth playing through again just to hear G-mans speech at the end of the game, as that sets the background story for HL2

or you could just watch the HL done quick video thing and see the speech on that

yeh just completed it nihilanth was suprisingly easy second or third time
cant wait to see some gonarch (obviously a massive scrotum) and nihilanth in hl:source
