    Mobo died?

    Ok chaps here goes;

    I press the power on button, the fans start for about 0.5 seconds then die, the PC does not power up.

    At first I thought PSU had died, changed the PSU made sure there were no shorts in the cables and still had the same problems

    I then removed all HDD's and CD/Floppy drives, and still no cure

    Ive replaced and tried removing the ram, still no joy

    Have also reseated the cpu and tried replacing the cpu, still no joy. Also reseated HSF.

    Have removed all PCI cards

    Have removed AGP gfx cards

    Have reset the bios

    Anyone got any bright ideas? Im assuming the MOBO is dead!

    Spec as follows;

    1700 DLT3C @ 2.2 gig (AIR)
    ABIT NF7-S V2 mobo
    512 Corsair PC3200
    Gforce FX5900 XT

    Please help, suppose to have a lan on the 27th!!!!!

    Sounds like mobo. Although could be the processor. No lights as a clue on the mobo?

    Have changed the processor,

    Red light is on the mobo when i plug the power in,

    press the on button, changes to green, then instantly back to red and hangs there

    Sounds like a dead mobo then. Or perhaps the bios is borked beyond all recognition. Same effect either way.

    Try resetting the bios via the jumper on the motherboard, make sure the power is completely off before you do this though. This will revert it back to all the default settings and may resolve the issue for you.

    Had a similer problem a month or two ago. My graphics card had gone pop. Why the pc responded by starting up then switching off I don't know...

    If you've eliminated the rest then it's probably dead. Only thing you might have forgot is to plug in a p4 12v atx connector if its a newer more power-hungry CPU.

    Its good to plug in the 12V supply regardless wether its a P4 or AMD chip. If i dont have the 12V connected on my board the 8x AGP doesnt work, I have to knock it down to 4x.

    Think this is because I have so much connected inside as it is. Completely agree with pre
