    onboard usb problem

Hello approximately 3 months ago i decided to build another computer for myself but this time with absolutely the best and fastest 1gb ddram, 3.4ghz pentium 4 processor and i have the pt800ce motherboard. I am very satisfied with the performance, however, every since i put the darn thing together i've been having problems with the onboard usb ports. Initially it would recognize the keyboard after startup and inserting the usb port but then whenever i restarted i would also have to take out the cable then reconnect. THen i tried all of these things including loading optomized defaults to see if the system would finally recognize something other than the keyboard (i.e an optical mouse, a game controller) however it never did even after the device drivers were installed for the specific devices and not only that but now that i've loaded the optimised defaults it's taking longer for the comp to load. what do i need to do to fix all of this stuff. Thanks
