Mate, I have got the EXACT same problem.

Was happily playing Guild Wars last night, no problems. System has been running for about a year flawlessly.
Go to turn it on this morning and NOTHING.
The fans spin, the lights come on, but it won't POST. If I take the ram modules out it shouts "FAILED RAM TEST" at me (got one of those fancy talking Asus boards ), if I take the CPU out, it screams "NO CPU INSTALLED!". Re-seated everything under the sun, and tried unplugging bits and pieces, cleared CMOS, etc....doesn't seem to help.

This has happened once before (just over a year ago as it happens, haha) when I put a new heatsink on the CPU. Exact same symptoms. Took it into work the next morning for my boss to have a look at, and when I said "look, this is what happens" it miraculously worked.

I'm hoping the same is gonna happen this time, haha!

I've heard that this sort of thing is often caused by solar flares (no joke!).....anyone know if there's been any flare activity overnight?

OK, the problem is back without warning and for no reason. Been working fine for the past couple of days, and now I have exactly the same problem as first listed above. I have tried everything I did last time to get it going again, but I simply can't. It refuses to show anything on the screen, no output at all, even from a 2nd graphics card.

I'm getting seriously pissed off with this computer now, wish I had the money to replace it coz something is screwed (performance in games since Monday has been dire with framerates dropping to less than half of normal play for no reason and in some cases complete freezes for upto 30 seconds).

Does anyone have any ideas if this is a Mobo problem or GPU problem? Or if it could be anything else?

    Cheers...

Hours and hours on end trawling forums and websites and I can find NOTHING about those stupid 4 LED's which are supposed to help diagnose what the problem is. Why the hell don't DFI tell you what they mean????!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I'm getting so pissed off with this now, I've spent ALL DAY trying to get this bastard fixed and I can't get anywhere. I've tried so many different stupid combinations of pulling power cables out, removing jumpers, taking out batteries, holding down reset buttons whilst booting up, removing absolutely everything bar CPU, RAM and graphics card and STILL not a damned thing.

Why did I buy a stupid DFI?

I wish I had the money for a Shuttle now, I've been wanting one for ages and now I have to replace this motherboard (before I snap the damn thing in two with a sledgehammer) and I can't afford one.

    Stupid life! It sucks!

Allen, I am just changing over to a full tower again and will have an SN45G coming free. It has bee modded a touch, but overclocks well and has a 2500+ Mobile doing 2400 mhz in it. I could let you have it for a really good price once the tower is up and working. Because of my cutting out the fan guard at the back it would be very cheap!

    Hahahaha!

Well, I'm not being funny, but you can still sell bits on ebay, even if they're busted! I was doing a search today, and there are people selling components that are CLEARLY labelled as faulty, and people are still paying up to £20 for them! God know whys.

I think my 6800GT has died.

It's actually running now with the spare GF2 card I had, it wouldn't work earlier, but perhaps it finally cleared the CMOS and I happened to have it in there. Connected a HDD and booted into Windows fine, though it won't run at 1600x1200 @ 32bit.

So, to double check it's the GPU, I'm going to exchange it for my girlfriends 9600XT to get a half decent card in my machine to test the 6800GT in her's.

A busted graphics card, that's all I need. That would also explain why performance has been down the pan lately.

Yeah, my apologies, it IS in the manual, I just must have missed it. Anyway, it didn't help me at all as the error mentioned nothing about graphics cards.

Anyway, my problem is definately my 6800GT. It doesn't work in my girlfriends PC and her 9600XT is running happily in my machine!

Suppose I better get an RMA on the way with XFX. Anyone know what they're like with RMA's? I don't wanna be without my 6800GT for too long and I can't really afford to send it off to another country what with recently losing my job...
