    Front Panel Audio Connector

I have this tower (the one in the pic isn't mine).

As you can see from the front, it has a Line in/out. I have always had to use these bloody jaks at the front. Decided to buy decent speakers, so now I need the motherboard jaks to work (as they support 5.1). However, the line out on my motherboard never gave me anysound. So, I unplugged what seemed to be coming from the front panel, all the small wires from the motherboard part labeled FP_AUDIO. However, that did not sort the problem, the back line out still doesn't work, but the Line in does.

I've installed the latest soundmax drivers and all that to no avail, anyone know what to do?

Most motherboards don't allow front panel jacks and rear at the same time so if you want to use the rear ports then unplug the front ones. simple and easy. You could also find this out if you read the MANUAL if you know what one is.
your computer is similar to a fridge in that if it cannot keep a beer cold then it sucks

Thanks for your HARSH words of wisdom, but I had read the manual THOUROUGHLY and it turned out that 2 Jumper caps were missing from the FP_AUDIO so I got two from a knackered hard drive and put them into the correct place.

If you'd read what I said

''So, I unplugged what seemed to be coming from the front panel, all the small wires from the motherboard part labeled FP_AUDIO.''

Which means that I did unplug the front audio panel simply and easily, that didn't work.

    Problem Solved.

All it does is loopback the interfaces.
