    Answer me this ...

I use a HP 4000 Laser Jet. Its a lovely printer but has no scanning facilities.

I have to print invoices that already have a credit card section on the back of the paper (pre-printed) and I print the details on the front.

Now when I print, I get what I asked for and then a scanned copy of the credit card section afterwards. This happens not all the time and only with the credit card paper - although I do have other pre-printed sheets.

Its the oddest thing and costs me loads in paper (75% more)

    Any ideas?

    Word 2003.

Cant see how that would change anything - if the printer cant scan a copy of the image runing through it how can it print it? actually I'm willing to accept anything at the moment - this printer is too odd to make sense.

It sounds like your pre printed stationary.
the image is getting onto the print drum - sounds like it could be toner that hasn't fused properly.

I bet you dont get the same problem if you use an injet ?

So when it runs through it gets picked up, bu why would it print again? Wouldn't it get printed onto all other printouts as well?

In this case not likely, if you had many printouts with an image of previous prints on it, i would say it was the fuser, in side your printer check your corona wire. you should have a little slidy bar which will clean that. Try printing from other programs to check its not software (Highly unlikely But always worth checking).

Some extra details would help, Is the image exactly the same, is it printing a double copy .

Im not quite sure what the problem is, other than it printing out your statment with a credit card on there, which you say is upposed to be. I think i have got this confused somewhere.

    Questions
Is the image a replica of previously printed documents.
Does the image rub off in your hand
Are there any lines down the page
Does the image fade on any area of the page.
    Dude

no, its a exact replica of a credit card form which is pre-printed on the back of the page and my invoices are printed on the front
    no
    no
    no

this is far too bizarre for me to even have a foggiest - I've changed the drums, reloaded the drivers changed my software and nothing is making a difference. Its not sending 2 sheets through because the replica is a 'fuzzier' copy and its on the front not the back.

help me please. my printer is trying to tell me something

Since your using laser, and its a preprinted sheet.

The most likely option in my mind is that its carbon paper, not full carbon, and your printer probably doesn't get hot enough but the back basicly heats onto the drum then as it rotates it gets rubbed back onto the sheet giving you the fuzzy effect.

Its the most logical as far as I can tell and I bet it doesn't do the same with inkjet

OK I think I finally figured out some thing for you try.
I may have missed some thing so let me know if this is wrong some where.
If you print one of your invoices on a plain piece of paper every thing is ok, right?
The problem only happens when you use the paper that has the pre-printed back, correct ?
    Here is my guess.
When the pre-printed paper hits the printers fuser, that text is being transfered to the lower fuser roller, then transfered to the upper roller, then on to your page.
    Follow that ok ?
so try this, print a windows test page, on to your pre-printed back paper, then print a second one, I'll bet you'll see the credit card text !
