Why doesn't my HDD activity light show up with my SATA HDD?

    Hey

I've got an ASUS Pundit-R with a 250Gb Maxtor Diamondmax10 in it (SATA).

When I'm using my DVD RW the HDD light shows up (probably because of the way the case it you can't see the activity light on the drive), but when I use my SATA drive the light doesn't flash at all.

This is my first time using a SATA drive...should it flash?

    Cheers

    Tim

I've never seen my HDD drive light flash on my board with SATA.

There is a mod you can so to run an LED off SATA drives to see activity.

I'm not too bothered, I just thought I'd set it up wrong!

That's pretty stupid though...you'd have thought it would have flashed...

Its because of the SATA interface and IDE channels being so different.

Some boards do support it IIRC

My MSI K8N Neo 2 Platinum does. Same as my old IDE drive.
