    I have some other 'issues' with this update;

    Ruined Freeview via DVB-T and BBC HD via Freeview
    Stupid SLi error message even though I'm not running an SLi system.

    I've uninstalled it on one of my PC's and may on the other one too until the next version?

    where's the overcloking utility gone?
    To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.

    Was it one of the cards like a 7300 or 7500 without a SLI bridging point on the card - but PCI-E ?

    If so this is due to the fact that these cards are infact "software" SLI compliant as opposed to the normal cards we see with the extra connection on the top. If 2 of these are installed into a motherboard that supports SLI, then the drivers load the bridgeless SLI support.

    I've got a 7800GTX that shows exactly the same reminder on startup.

    It was doing it on mine also and I have the XFX 6600GT AGP which has the bridging chip on it. I stopped it by installing game XP which quickens things up nicely and it removes the baloon pop ups.

    One thing I have noticed is that I have the nvidia logo in the system tray by the clock. I always remove that but it keeps on checking itself and coming back in the drivers. I have found this set to be pretty stable but I lost a little performance with them.

    I wouldn't worry about fast writes anyway. There is no evidence that it makes any difference to performance. It has been shown in some cases to cause instabilities when switched on.

    Have a look at http://www.tweakguides.net

    I run with fast writes disabled, with no problems.

    the 91.33 beta drivers of Nvidia nzone site are reported to have fixed the balloon popup (not tried them myself), there was also a reg fix doing the rounds.
