don't think so. it's Media Player that produces the thumb nails so if it can't play it, it can't create a thumb nail. Do RealVideo files have thumb nails? if they do thats because Real has hooked into windows and is getting RealPlayer to generate the thumb nails. Obviously QT can't do this.

got this response over on dvdoctor, and it works soooooooooooo fine!

There's a little project here called quickthumb. It's a ".dll" file that you can install to show quicktime thumbnails. Windows XP won't do it by itself. I've tried it and it seems to work fine. In case you're not sure how to install it (ignore this if you are!) - download the dll (binary) file and copy it into the c:\windows\system32 folder. Then open up the "command prompt" from start>all programs>accessories. At the blinking prompt type c:\windows\system32\regsvr32 quickthumb.dll
You should then get a confirmation message. Now browse the folder you want in thumbnail mode and you should see the quicktime thumbnails.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers
    Paul

thats cool. i'll not bother though, i hate the way XP insists on pulling the resolution and duration out of files and slowing everything down, never mind thumbnail generation
