hidden folders

hello everybody.i am trying to recover some e-mails from a hard disk which wont boot,i cant repair with xp repair function.the problem is that the folders are hidden and as i cannot bott to the operating system,i cannot make them visible.any ideas how to see these folders on this other disk.any help greatly appreciated as e-mails about my upcoming holiday are on there.thanks

Can you boot to a working disk? Is the disk on which the files reside visible if you do? If so, then open a command prompt and use "attrib -h -r -s [drive letter of busted drive]:\*.* /S /D".

were the emails stored in outlook express or microsoft outlook?
