Thread: what fan spec should i match with this?

    what fan spec should i match with this?

    i have a laptop cpu fan rattling, its spec is 40 x 40x 10 , 0.5v and .20amps. other then phyisal size does the voltage and amps neccessarily have to match? i cant remeber but is it as long as the spec of the replacment fan on ebays are if under it or was it as long as the ratings were higher then it then its ok i can buy ?

    Probably best to match the Volts. Try to keep similar on the amps, but its by no means critical. 0.5V is unusual though - most desktop fans are 12V.

    Edit: A quick google shows that most laptop fans are 5V. Are you sure its 0.5?

    yes its a laptop cpu fan not desktop cpu fan . yes sorry its 5v . lol . 0.5 is less then 1v lol silly me

    0.2 amps would probably be the maximum current it can draw before blowing out.

    yeah i thought its like ac plugs, u should only amps as they matter most. so i shouldnt choose another fan thats over 0.20a
