Question of the week: do you use antivirus software?

Runing win 08 most free/reasonable priced wont run on mine so I just use a online scanner

I have never run any resident AV program on my own machines - I occasionally use trend micro's house call and kaspersky's free on line scanner but I never have one installed as I find it makes any PC seem slow. I recommend Kaspersky to everyone else because I've read it has one of the best detection rates and uses the relatively few resources. Plus it's damn cheap compared with the big name alternatives. Back in the days of being directly connected to the internet I did run various firewall programs (largely ZoneAlarm though I understand it is far from the best option these days) but even then I did not run AV software.
