The original DeusEX was brilliant, but the second was terrible. The DeusEx 2 engine was an awful performer. Lets hope they get back to basics!
from what i gather in pczone this on is set 25 years before the original. the setting is described as "cyberpunk-renaissance". pczone say that the eta is "when it's done" which leaves me with hope that it will be done right. although they do say that it may not please hardcore fans
Oh good a Bioshock clone.
I was looking forward to this but it seems like it is imposible for a Dev to make a game with any depth any more for fear of alienating the "console-tards".
Nothing against console gaming, in fact I spend most of my game time on the Xbox at the minute but I cant see why they cant make console games with the depth of PC games.
They can't make indepth console games because it might frighten people!
Indepth Game?
I'm sure that sales would drop!
And, of course, the cost of hiring someone to make a game indepth would probably be a fair amount.
Depressing.... Why do they have to hijack the deus ex name to make a generic shooter? I guess it's so they can add a "award winning series" label to the box in the hope that it'll sell more....
didn't they already make a generic shooter based on deus ex? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Snowblind
anyway, as for blaming consoles for "dumbing down", it's not a console question, it's a "mass market" question - spore is delightfully shallow, and is also pc-only
things are dumbed down to appeal to tbe beer drinking frat boy demographic, regardless of platform
Got really excited until I read that they were ditching the "stats-driven combat" which I guess means the RPG elements of the original, and I know instantly its gona suck like deus-ex2
Eidos? Eidire!
No......Not without incident.
I dont like complexity for complexities sake, Oblivion and Morrowind are fine examples of massive games done well. However Bioshock is a fine example of dumbing down they took System shock and removed all the things that made it a classic simplified the whole thing and turnt it into a pretty avarage shotter.
Deus Ex is a brilliantly crafted subtlely complex, Deus Ex 2 wasn't a bad game by any stretch but it was a big old step into consolization, but it now seems that the last shreds of what made Deus Ex what it was has been sacrificed to satisfy the lowest common denominator.
Like I said I spend most of my time playing console games recently, however it annoys me know end when classic games, for any system, are ruined for money.
Deus Ex 3 had better be closer to the first than the second. Deus Ex was one of my favourite games of all time. My box still sits proudly on the shelf.
Deus Ex 2 did not allow you to follow the 3 different endings that were possible on the first, it was very short and was extremely boring!!
Dont ruin the franchise Eidos.
praying that it'll be a faithful redo of deus ex 1. far cry 2 managed to be ok cross platform, but i get the feeling it's gonna be kinda cartoony and lack depth like IW. i want stats! likely we'll be waiting at least 2 years for it in any case
Deus Ex is one of the best games ever and DE:IW was so bad it nearly killed it... I have been keeping my ear to the the ground about this game for a while and here's hoping they take it back to the former glory of the original.
didnt one of the key developers making the 3rd one effectively sy that he didnt like the first game and that it was boring? - how to kill any hope of this being good and to regain your target auidence back! sometimes i wonder how these developers make it in the industry when they say stupid stuff like that which will obviously alienate fans!
