How does the first shot confirm anything about a PS3 slim? All I can see is 'PS3' and a top down shot of a normal PS3.
Doesn't look right IMO, fake.
The don't seem to have done much about the general level of ugly which goes along with the PS3.

If this is true, are Sony purposefully trying to make an ugly console?
The box looks kinda legit. But the exterior of the console looks extremely unfinished. Prototype maybe?

That was my point, neither are exactly good looking IMO
To be honest there are very few good looking games consoles. The most you can hope for is for it to blend in with your other equipment.
In a dedicated shelf the PS3 doesn't look nearly as offensive as the PS2 and works better than the top loaders of yore.
The 360 would probably be the nicest design out if it weren't for its Kinder Surpise level plastics and build quality. The Wii is very nice looking, but holds next to no gaming interest for me.
Personally a more stackable unit would be best.

plus the PS3 is officially called the PLAYSTATION®3 (in all caps) , the box says PlayStation 3

The 'PS3' logo on the base and the box is wrong, Sony's never used that and I can't see why they'd suddenly start now.
That just looks like one of those fake consoles (and box) you get from China, etc. Not saying it won't happen but I don't think that looks right at all...
Not really too hopeful about that, looks like a fake as mentioned above.
When is E3 anyway?
I just bought a PS3 aswell. If this is proved real, I will be well gutted =(
