i am really quite annoyed with msi for this, i had no interest what so ever in core i5 and now this deal has come up have spent the whole weekend trying to workout how much i could gte for my q9550 and 3 msi p35 diamond boards and whether it will be close to the cost of an i5 750 and the p55gd80 board.
Im still mulling over whether or not to get one of these or to stick with my original plan of getting a 720BE set up. Does anyone know exactly when launch day is? i know its says the 8th but its eerily quiet considering we're supposed to be 1 day away
It's going live tomorrow at 2pm according to bit-tech!
I hate this, was all set on a AMD chip and them intel throw their hat in the ring for the same price, but what is the future proofness of this board?
I'm trying to build a rig that I can game on but ideally dont want to spend more than 400 on the internals (excluding psu and case) so with this 55% offer thing it looks like both the amd and intel option will work out the same. Its sods law that just as Im ready to build a new rig everything gets mucked up by something completely throwing me off guard
I can already hear the moths inside my wallet straining to be set free....
I've so nearly gone for an i7 in the past couple of months, right down to being just a click away from a complete system overhaul after a frantic few hours checking reviews and finding the corresponding parts on Scan.
I'll see what tomorrow brings but some time soon I think new PC innards will be winging their way to Pollaxe Towers; what kind of innards depends on £s/reviews/etc. though.
Am hoping to be able to get one... sounds like it may be a challenge.
No sign of the msi motherboards on scan yet . . .

The i5 prices are up, and it's a bit on the scary side. Although if I manage to bag one of the discounted motherboards the i5 would be well worth it (in terms of platform cost) compared with the Phenom system I specced before deciding to wait for this.
Meh, I can see the prices dropping like a rock, this 55% off will mean you pay the price of what they will be in 3 months time, all it means is MSI have done a fantastic sales move.
Am having one!
Showing on CCL but at full price, no sign of discount
