TOUCHPAD LATEST from Palm Store
OUT OF STOCK!
Update Thur 25th 10pm :
This product is no longer available for sale. We do not expect this position to change.
Customers who had already placed an order with Palm Eurostore have been sent an email communication in relation to their order.
Dear Palm Eurostore customer,
We regret to have to inform you that Palm Eurostore will NOT now be in a position to fulfill orders that have been received for the HP TouchPad 16Gb WiFi ( Part Number: FB405UA#ABB ) or the HP TouchPad 32Gb WiFi ( Part Number: FB368UA#ABB ).
You will probably be well aware of the very high level of interest and demand for these products in Europe in light of what had transpired in the US where significant price reductions had taken place. We know a lot of you may also have placed orders in the expectation that a similar price reduction would have been announced in Europe. In good faith, and after communication with HP, we at the Palm Eurostore allowed pre-orders to be taken for these products at the standard price. We fully intended and expected to be able to fulfill these orders and if a price reduction were to be announced then we would have applied that new price to the orders.
A decision, wholly outside of our control, has been made which meant that this expectation will not now be met. This decision means that we can no longer obtain any inventory of these products. Therefore, regretfully, we have no alternative but to cancel your order for these products and to process a full and complete refund of your money ( for those orders where the funds have already been deducted ). You will receive an email directly when the cancellation takes place – we expect to have all orders cancelled before close of business Fri 26th August. Please note that your bank or card issuing bank may take up to several days to show this refund on your account or statement.
We offer you our sincerest apologies for what has happened and can only ask for your understanding of our actions in a confusing and evolving situation. Again I wish to re-iterate that we acted in good faith and tried everything we could to try to secure inventory for these orders – but to no avail.
Should there be any new developments in relation to these products becoming available – and we have no information to suggest that will happen - we will contact you directly and try to ensure you are given priority or special consideration in some way to obtain these.
Yours sincerely, Palm Eurostore, Customer Support Team

I heard that CPW are buying up most stocks of the Pre3 for contracts.
Also,it seems that CPW are using TouchPads to sell overpriced contracts:
http://www.itproportal.com/2011/08/2...drive-revenue/
Just great!! In the rest of the world larger retailers are selling the TouchPads cheaply or sending them back to HP. HP is subsidising them so they can sell quickly.
However,in the UK we get one of our major retailers trying some profiteering. I hope HP steps in and stops them TBH.
Let them profiteer, it's their stock after all.
Most people will just avoid them, no biggie!
^^ indeed whilst it may be annoying, its a clever move to make. It's surprising that any retailer actually sold them for the £89/£115 price points once they realised the demand. If I were them I'd be selling for a minimum of £200 (matching the ebay prices) - unless I was required to sell them at the £89 due to a contract with HP. Even then I would be scrambling to find a way out of it asap. In the current marketplace with margins squeezed so low, you are going to want to make every extra penny that you can find.
It still sucks for those that have not yet managed to find one, we gotta hope that HP do indeed release more stocks to the retailers that are selling them at a discounted rate (Comet/Argos are supposedly getting more next week). The more of these that get out there the better - we need to keep WebOS alive now
As soon as this happened I postulated that any clever stores with stock would take them off sale, back room them for a couple of weeks, then suddenly discovered unsold stock and stick it out there at £150 - £200; I reckon plenty of Touchpads would shift at those prices (I'd certainly pay £150 for a 16GB version - if I had £150, that is ).
The only way I can make sense of HP's actions is to assume that they want to sell off WebOS without taking too much of a hit in the wallet. By fire saleing their entire stock of TouchPads, they've just massively inflated the installed userbase of WebOS devices, which should make acquiring said OS a lot more attractive to potential buyers. So it could be a very cunning plan to take a small hit on the hardware side of their mobile business in the hope of a bigger return when selling off the software side. I guess only time will tell on that one...
EDIT: I wonder how long it will take for stock of HP Touchpads in CEX to start creeping up...
This is funny:
