    Correction:

"Donamihaber has published a slide showing that FX-4150, FX-8120 and FX-6120"

    I think you mean "FX-8140".......

    Explanation:

"AMD also plans to release its quad-core Trinity APU models with A10 and A8 processors in Q2 2012, followed by A6 and A4 dual-core versions in Q3. It’s rumoured that the Piledriver-based Trinity CPUs will also land in Q3."

How can trinity arrive in both Q2 and Q3.......... Or do you mean a gpu-less trinity on sFM2 in much the same way there are gpu-less llano chips on sFM1 today?

Wrong. This is why I don't have a BD chip.

Was going to but the machine it was going to go in is the PC I play 3rd person and racing games on..........the F1 2011 benchmarks stopped me getting a BD chip as they cannot handle the game maxed out. i5 thrashes it though.

Admittedly, these games are an exception, rather then a rule......but still they exist and is the reason such bold blanket statements are dangerous to make.

Alright, alright, AMD wins. Not in terms of price/performance or performance/watt ratio. But that's irrelevant, yes? I am just saying that I was shopping around for my new build from Pentium B series to i5 2500k and from AMD APUs to FX range. Just see no reason to get AMD, not in my case anyway. And this new addition is just a struggle in my opinion. AMD as always, will have a run for few months and then Ivy + NVidia 6 series will come out. Then a year in shadows again. And all over again.. and again..

Does anyone have benchmarks for video encoding say.. Intel i3 Vs AMD A6 APU? Not interested in dedicated GPUs due to budget constrains.

The facts though, are that BD is a trash architecture which is easily proven by Phenom II X6 beating BD is basically every single scenario. And it's even made look worse when BD is actually compared to an i3, which is almost the end of the Intel barrel. But then again, it was that other conflictuous user who brought up i3-BD to the table, and I certainly am away from that.
Completely wrong, what reviews were you reading?

    http://www.anandtech.com/show/4955/t...8150-tested/11

In many cases, AMD's FX-8150 is able to close the gap between the Phenom II X6 and Intel's Core i5 2500K. Given the right workload, Bulldozer is actually able to hang with Intel's fastest Sandy Bridge parts.
On the other hand, I would very much like to know why exactly BD can't beat the previous flagship. Now that I find a very worrying situation.
It can and does frequently. It frequently beats the 2500K as well, just not in gaming. Somewhere in your mind that turned it into a "trash architecture" when in fact it's pretty reasonable for the first chip on a new architecture. We're in 2012, you'd think that multi-threading would be more important than single threads. Is it AMD's fault that this so-called "trash architecture" is being let down by 1990's programming?

I have my AMD PII BE 955 running at 4.2, might be quite a good one to add to the chart (if i can be arsed)

    Take a look at this.

I'm going to try the Handbrake test on my rig. I was (pleasantly) surprised to an FX CPU in the top 10 but not so much by the top 4 CPUs on there.

I was under the impression that AMD would release an FX8170 as the flagship SKU, has this been withdrawn now?

Most of the CPUs in the top 10 are overclocked and the FX8150 was running at stock clockspeeds. I have now updated the results, look at post 25.

    Pah, we need a new 2012 face-off!

for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

I separated them out as one or two people didn't think it was appropriate to have OcUK results in the main chart.

    The FX8150 was just behind a Xeon E3-1270(basically a Core i7 2600), and at 4.6GHZ was around 5% slower than a 4.5GHZ Core i7 2600K.

The power draw of a 4.6GHz FX though.

Did the BDZ extension support get added into Handbrake yet? I remember there was a bit of excitement swirling around the performance benefit around BDZ's launch?

Yep. If the FX8100 series had better power consumption overclocked,it would have helped a lot.
