Re: QOTW: Which enthusiast GPU would you choose?

I hate NVidia more than anything else, they have their policies and their bloodsucking ideas that are anti everything more for themselves, I do understand that they need money, everyone does, but not in a dirty way. Make a product, make it good and let the others do the job, but making a product and that going all into corrupting others to use their stuff just to criple the other manufacturers, that is low but they don't care and I hate everything that has NVidia inside. I would choose anything from AMD, I love AMD and I will live happy with AMD on everything. Just my budget is not great and I cannot buy each generation hardware otherwise I would buy every single product that AMD releases... Enough said, I am AMD cause RED is my blood and I am filled with that.

Out of those cards I'd buy the 390X. As even if I could afford cards that expensive I'd still find it hard to spend that much for a card when a 390 or 970 is much cheaper and more then good enough for my current monitor resolution.

    Bait topic!
My weak will has caved in ;(

None is the answer at the moment, too much cash to drop on a card to find it could be a coil/pump whiner.

Hopefully next generation will improve things...

Developers are less likely to invest the time & money in something that only has a small share of the market, Microsoft's solution to this problem is to allow their apps to be ported to the market leaders platforms in the hope that it will attract more developers and in turn be more attractive to customers, AMDs solution is to be free and open with their tech in the hope that others start using it, thus making it more attractive proposition.
That's not a bad point. Still, I think Amd are the better company, and I believe they still were back in the days when their cpu's were better than Intel's, and when their gpu's have been clearly better than Nvidia's. Nvidia has gone so far as to taint the game development industry with their Gameworks program, negatively affecting not just Amd users, but their own users of previous gen Nvidia gpu's. I don't ever remember Amd pulling stuff like this, especially not on the same level.

In an ideal world i would get the Titan X but considering that card cost more than my whole current build, in the words of Darryl Kerrigan "Tell him he's dreaming"....

If money was no object, a 980Ti, no brainer. Otherwise, I'd just get another 970 for SLI.

If their was ever a GPU generation to be missed it has to be this one with a die shrink just a round the corner. So no nvidia or amd this time.

Love Nvidia but bang for buck I always choose ATi (at the time of upgrading) as you get more for less. R9 Fury X for me.

Re: QOTW: Which enthusiast GPU would you choose?

Have recently been on the AMD side of the fence (currently R9 290), but if I was buying a high end for me would be the Palit Jetstream 980ti. It has great reviews and beats the FuryX and here in the UK Pailt 980ti = £532, FuryX=£546.

Re: QOTW: Which enthusiast GPU would you choose?

Been a member of the green team for a long time - still have an 8800 GTS that is going strong (admittedly water cooled so OC'ed the heck out of it). But I really like the direction AMD is going with the Fury X. AT the moment the 980ti is clearly the better buy, but I think AMD are definitely onto something with the memory and produced a neat card. I will wait until spring and hopefully a second generation Fury X before committing

Re: QOTW: Which enthusiast GPU would you choose?

I agree that AMD have taken a leap towards the future, but I still feel as if the are behind on the power efficiency and they really need to work on it. The 980ti uses less power yet is more powerful and is still using traditional RAM setup.

The R9 Fury X costs the same as a 980Ti but lags behind in performance.

Intel got lazy once and at the same time AMD integrated the memory controller into the CPU.......a combination of the two gave AMD the CPU lead for the first time since they poked Intel in the eye and made a 40MHz version of the 33MHz 386 design they licensed from Intel. Please define "better".

Tainted the market? They gave developers an API they wanted to speed up development. AMD could have done it or <insert any company name>....but they didn't....nVidia saw an opportunity at took it......have nVidia negatively impacted anyone? Or have the developers used the tools incorrectly?

You seem so sure it's nVidia perhaps you could explain just how they have done this?

I am seeing lots of speculation and accusations but all based on benchmarks.....benchmarks where newer designs do better.....Who'd have thought newer micro-architectures would handle newer features better? Its a conspiracy I tell you!!!

Re: QOTW: Which enthusiast GPU would you choose?

Currently in the High-end Nvidia is 'more bang for buck'

On Scan you can get the Palit Jetstream 980ti for £532.78:
    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/6gb-p...ores-2816-3x-d

The lower performing Fury X costs more at £546.62.

Re: QOTW: Which enthusiast GPU would you choose?

Fury pro is the best overall high end card on the market. Fury pro crossfire also THE 4k solution.

NVidia better drop some prices in that range or better yet, launch a die shrinked version.

It would be a shame if the only result of AMDs hard work was for nvidia to stop being so greedy for a while, I hope the new cards sell well.
