I bought the EVGA GTX980 Ti SC ACX2 card to replace my EVGA GTX980 SC ACX2 card (which my son was glad to get.)

Isn't even a discussion really. Whichever benches best after stabilised drivers have been released. Is there a reason to go for any other?

I would choose the GTX 980ti Classified, you can overclock it a lot higher than the Fury X

The normal Fury when overclocked nearly beats the Fury X in games

A bit late to the party, but the the Fury seems like the best deal to me right now. I wouldn't really go for a top-tier GPU though, it seems much more sensible to go for something like a 390, since the performance isn't that far off, but the price is usually much better.

There most certainly are, lots of people consider temperature, acoustics & power consumption before their purchase.
The more one seeks, the more one finds and so you realise there is a lot more to be found.

Re: QOTW: Which enthusiast GPU would you choose?

Depends on the finances really, as with most things.. its a case of the best I can afford at the time! I'm currently enjoying my GTX 970. but I can see a replacement on the horizon if I ever get monitors with higher resolutions. I probably would have gone 980 or ti if funds allowed it
