About LinkBacksRTCW and later Enemy Territory was prob the best.
I also had a lot of fun in the original Deus Ex mp but hardly anyone played that. More recently COD4 and BFBC2 were pretty good too. Nothing in the last few years has really stood out for me.

Battlefield, starting with Bad company 2 that was awesome, then BF3 and now BF4 which isn't as good as BF3 but still the best series going for multiplayer. Eagerly awaiting the star wars edition.
Star wars battlefront 2. Man was that game good.
