Here's me labouring under the mistaken belief that I had to take any responsibility for my job performance all these years. I should have just put my feet up and picked my nose, because when the company tanked it would have been 100% the fault of the CEO, and I could feel sorry for myself because it's all the bosses' fault for recruiting me, not motivating me, not training me, not supervising me and ultimately not sacking me.
They should have sacked me years ago, but no they wouldn't even do me that courtesy! And now here I am, out of a job because the business collapsed. I've a good mind to sue...
Or, maybe 'responsibility' and 'accountability' are two different things?
You are perfectly entitled to be hacked off with a company that has let you down.
But to be filled with spite and bile for the foot-soldiers? No.
What? that doesn't make sense. Its alright to be hacked off with the company, which by definition encompasses the staff, the products, buildings etc. but then its not alright to be hacked off with the staff?
Clearly, quite mistakenly, yes I do.
If anybody knows my history, they know I've personally gone into bat in the past over readers problems and so will have genuine sympathy with your suffering.
But, nothing you've said so far convinces me that the sins against you are so great as to entitle you to discard your humanity.
Finally, who are you to judge when and how I should display my humanity? Are you some sinless almighty being?
So unless the way you handle your humanity is flawless, then don't lecture me on how to deal with mine. What makes you think you're so much better than me that you should be in the position to comment upon my humanity? You may be a moderator here, but you are not higher or lower than me in the pecking order of the world - therefore in no position to judge.
Yes, I'm challenging your authority in the world outside of this forum, but not as a moderator - just to get that clear.

Hey Guys I ordered something on Monday and obviously I have got nothing yet.
Im not sure if I should just find my item elsewhere or wait because I don't want to edit up with savastore eventually sending me my item therefore having it twice.
How long do you think I should hang on ?
Cheers
Gff
From dictionary.reference.com
accountability
noun
responsibility to someone or for some activity
If you really were that bad then they should either improve or remove you, simple as.
Man, I bought lcd tv from them which turned out to be faulty and returned it the next day in january. I was promised a refund that did not materialise and after a couple of weeks I popped into the shop to see what was happening and they said the money had been put in my account. Offcourse this did not happen after a couple of days checking and today I find out the have gone bust or have been taken over!
Any chance off getting my money back?!?!?
I paid by credit card and hopefully this will be under some kind of insurance.?
I've got an outstanding order with Savastore.com too.
If I don't hear anything soon then I'll just have to cancel the card transaction.
(and others above) You're all crazy, I hope I never employ any of you
When you have a company where 90% of the staff are useless troglodytes who cause all the company's customers to be lost, who is responsible for the bankrupcy? Is it the competent 10%, for not carrying the rest of the dead weight? Is it management, for not beating the 90% into shape? Or is it everyone's combined responsibility, from the director's misadvised brand aquisitions right down the flunkey in the warehouse who finally lost Joe Bloggs' custom by playing football with his order before despatching it.
Management are accountable but people at ALL LEVELS are responsible. Everyone employed was an adult. We shouldn't roll our eyes on their behalf and say "It's not FAIR!!!! No-one told me to make an effort" like Kevin the teenager might. All this talk of heroic 'foot-soldiers' is laughable, there were good staff and muppets employed but any business where the muppets so overwhelming negate the best efforts of the few good staff will fail. 'Simple as'.
Frankly so do I.
EDIT - I was going to leave it at that, but I re-read your post. You're accusing me of painting a "Kevin the teenager" image of the shop floor, while you paint exactly the same picture of the management. The management/directors are accountable and hence responsible for the performance of the company, if they screw up the company goes under (as it would appear has happened)
And yes, this edit was fuelled by wine.

Tell you what then; at every job interview you go to make it clear that you will never take responsibility for your own decisions or actions and that if you ever do anything wrong (or just not feel motivated to do anything at all) then make it clear it'll all be your manager's fault for not providing the correct leadership (or for recruiting you in the first place).
Also, mention that whenever you ever identify anything 'wrong' at work - maybe an inefficient process, or maybe a pile of burning paper in the middle of the office - say that you certainly wouldn't take ownership of the problem and try to solve it, but instead ignore it because like everything else it's for your manager to sort out.
That way if I'm the interviewer, I'll know it's you
strangely enough, i've never had a bad experience with savastore, having ordered with them several times
i must be lucky i guess
