Do you mean they are both faulty and you need a refund or to have them replaced?

If you are looking for a replacement, I'd see what the HDD maker says; if you are looking for a refund, then I'd suggest you still contact the maker because we simply don't know if Globally will give you a refund - though I suspect that most people here abouts would judge that unlikely.

Whatever happens, please let us know.

Last week i recieved a lan disk enclosure from savastore.
    The item was unbranded.
It was DOA so i sent it back as instructed by Savastore for a replacement.
Now i read they on not trading at the moment.
I have no idea if they have my faulty goods or the post office has them. It was posted to them last friday so i assume it was with them by the following tuesday, one day before their annoucement.
Any advice would be gratefully appreciated from anyone.

Globally Limited are in effect a new company and they are not going to want to, or obliged to, accept returns from Watford Electronics Limited.

If a faulty item has a manufacturers warranty you need to contact the manufacturer directly and explain the situation (although they would probably already be aware of the demise of Watford Electronics and have a procedure in place to deal with faulty items). In the case of a hard drive you can normally obtain a returns number for a faulty drive from the drive manufacturers website and return the drive directly to them for replacement. You would of course have to pay the return carriage but it would still be cheaper than buying a new drive.

If you have already returned an item to Watford Electronics/Savastore or have a faulty item then your best course of action would be to contact your credit card issuer to obtain a refund.

I assume i have lost my goods then as the landisk was an enclosure valued at app £30. (Credit card company doesn't want to no as its less than £100.)

Suppose i will have to update myself on events and see if savastore can help once they are up and running with contact info.
Our postman was quite helpful as he says if they closed their premises any parcels not received by them would be returned to the sender after 15 days.
If Savastore confirm that they didn't recieve this then after 15 days a claim against royal mail can be made to the value of £30 for items lost providing i keep the receipt.
Its all depended on savastore communicating once they start biusness again.
O well i suppose it could have been a lot worst.

Also, mention that whenever you ever identify anything 'wrong' at work - maybe an inefficient process, or maybe a pile of burning paper in the middle of the office - say that you certainly wouldn't take ownership of the problem and try to solve it, but instead ignore it because like everything else it's for your manager to sort out.

Without wanting to get into a flame war here (though it seems I already am) I believe myself to be a perfectly competent worker in my field, as do my management. If I were not, I would expect my management to do something about it - why is this an unreasonable stance?

What you're effectively saying (from where I'm stood at least) is that some of the frontline staff at Watford weren't very good, however it's no fault of the management for not taking the relevant action. Why could the management team not employ better staff or improve what they had through use of training?

Were I in a position of management in a company and the staff were that poor I certainly would take action...

I would say you are lucky in that you have not returned the drives already and they are not faulty. You are not going to be able to return them as the company you purchased them from essentially does not exist any more! If you dont want the drives you might as well sell them on ebay or maybe someone else on this forum is looking for a couple of decent hard drives.

Selling of hardware outside the for sale forum is forbidden. You must have 50 non-spam post or more before gaining access to the for sale forum

Not a flame war but just to correct you; I am saying that loads of staff in every dept were rubbish and the failure of the business is the fault of all of these incompetent employees. But people are saying 'pity the valiant foot-soldiers, they weren't to know any better and management take 100% responsibility'. That's just naive; too bad they're out of a job now but if they were just 5% more competent across the company they probably wouldn't be. Like anywhere, some were contributing a lot more than others.

The innocent people who are losing here are the unsecured creditors, suppliers left £3.5m out of pocket and the unsuspecting customers left with knackered kit and no warranty.

....on the subject of which, to what extent can those posting problems above claim off their credit cards? Isn't it that cardholder not present transactions of >£50 get statutory insurance under some act or other?

Aha, now we're getting somewhere - if we have general incompetency across the board, then I can see your point. That said, ultimate responsibility sits with the CEO in my eyes...

Well that's a lesson for me in credit card transactions! I can't cancel the transaction through the credit card company as they assure payment to vendors. I can't cancel the order as the Savastore site isn't up and running and phone calls get a recorded message. I have to wait until they charge my card and fail to deliver before I can do anything.

That can't be correct - in this case you should be able to cancel because of non-provision of goods (the company no longer exists!)..

non-provision of goods doesn't count as they haven't taken the money yet. According to the credit card company I can't do a thing until the money is taken.
....which is a pain cause I don't want to order from elsewhere and end up with 2 lots of kit that I then have trouble returning.

Surely if you originally placed the order with savastore.com, then when the new Global inc company want to fullfill your order its completely optional, they jsut have a list of orders placed, you haven't actually placed an order with them.

i.e. if they do send it, return it, and ideally don't accept the offer of delivery in the first place, or refuse the courier delivery (thats if ur not like me and take any delivery thinking I wonder what this is )

I would suggest keeping a regular eye on the savastore website. As soon as they are trading again the website will be up and running as normal. Once the website is back you should be able to get in touch with them.

If the goods are sent to you you can return them with 7 working days for a refund (distance selling regulations).

Alternatively, if you have not yet been charged you could ask your bank to cancel your card and issue you a new one. Savastore would then have no method of charging you as the card details they have will have been cancelled.
