CUDA and PhysX make a little more sense now.
I look forward to Hexus testing the benefit of this chipset with a separate graphics card on games that use PhysX.

Is this MCP79 integrated chipset the one that will work with Via Nano CPU's?

That would be big news for people awaiting a HP mininote refresh................

    Hi,

It's the mobile version of this chipset, as used in Apple's new MacBook Air and Pro laptops.

has there been any confirmation that Via will use the same MCP79 ulv chipset as found in the Air?

Forgive me for not clearly understanding the meaning of your reply.

I think you're saying this is a mobile integrated chipset which is used in the new macbook computers........... which i know.

What i want to know is if there is any info confirming that the MCP79 (in ulv form presumably) is indeed the same chipset that was rumoured earlier this year to be the one that will work with Via Nano CPU's?

    Many thanks

    Hi,

Yup, I saw the rumours earlier this year. I'll have a response for you by end of play today - contacting NVIDIA atm.

    many thanks.

a mininote v2 using this chipset would be simply magnificent, basically the mac-netbook that everyone seems to want.

As wonderful as it would be, I doubt it could be shoe-horned into the existing size. Heat could be an issue. Additionally, it is likely the power requirements would go up.

Nice idea - hope you're right and I'm wrong... (On-die graphics is what I'm waiting for, btw.)

    why not?

they are using the same chipset in the mac-book air, which has a much thinner chassis.

When do you think these chipsets will be used by other OEMs?

apparently the mobile 9400/9300 chipset is due to be announced by five big laptop makers any day now, but i am interested in the ultra low voltage variant that is supposed to be in the Macbook Air, and obviously the logical choice for Via Nano CPU's................
