me + my mate tried to jam a microwave door sensor (so you could have it on with the door open ) however its a tad more sofistaicated than a walkman single button jobbie!
i'd be lost without mine tbh, supernoodles take ages in a pan

Microwaves actually cause lots of molecules to vibrate, not just water molecules. That's probably why clingfilm is bad, it'll degrade. As for being dangerous though: total BS.
We don't use ours all that much, but I find it's the best way to cook vegetables like brocolli, leeks, carrots, peas etc. Just put them in a plastic tray with a dribble of water in the bottom to keep them moist. A few minutes in the microwave and the consistency is perfect. It's like steaming them, but quicker.
Also if your coffee or tea gets cold, 10s in the microwave usually sorts it out.

Ok so this article has some rubbish in it , but it was an article that reinforced something that I had been told informally here in work, the guy that told me does not lie and told me what happened when he was in uni with his mate having a study bought off of him by a microwave manufacturer.

One end is moo, the other, milk.
All part of the fun as far as I'm concerned. However, I'd advise any rich folk who might be reading to avoid using a microwave to defrost their golf leaf sushi.Originally Posted by Deckard

Indeed, I thought that would be of particular concern to you, Blub2k

more bs imo. microwave is highly useful, not for cooking lavish dishes but for saving time and more importantly money, it cant be beat. baking a potatoe in an oven takes ~2 hours @ 400F. thats a hella a waste of leccy compared to 5 mins in a microwave

Oi Deck, did you hear that thing about the gold leaf sushi, dont put it in the micro right!!

Microwave ovens are used daily in thousands of restaurants, not for cooking but for defrosting and heating. They are indispensible tools if you learn how to use them properly. Most people don't take the time and trouble to master them.
You can cook with microwave ovens, but they are tricky because they are so fast and they will selectively heat parts of food with more water and/or more fat. I've learned how to cook a small raw frozen salmon fillet to PERFECTION in less than two minutes (and I am very particular how fish is cooked) in my Bosch microwave. This is very handy when my daughter demands salmon for her tea and we haven't got any fresh available.
Also, I agree with Rave, microwaves can be superb for cooking vegetables, but again you've got to take care. The difference between perfect and ruined can be just a few seconds.
