Am I the only who likes lavishes of butter for toast, then dip it in ketchup?
For me it has to be chocolate spread with sliced banana delicious.....

Cheese and strawberry jam
/mutters to self .... must STOP reading threads like this late at night.
I'm off now to munch on the slice of cheese and tomato on toast I suddenly, inexplicably develpped a craving for.
Another one for the cheese and jam here but I prefer raspberry or blackcurrant. The flavours just go so well together

Ah, the British and their toast. Marmelade, Marmite, jams and sundry other toppings make their way into the thread but one thing must not be forgotten:
CORNED BEEF
I'm finding it increasingly hard to get the corned beef I like, though, that being Fray Bentos. I prefer itr to Princes, etc.
My current favourite :-
- a nice thick slice (slab) of home-made bread.
- toast one side
- dribble a little olive oil onto untoasted side
- add fresh chopped tomato (gently squeeze tomato into kitchen roll before adding to avoid juice making toast soggy)
- add a little chopped fresh basil (a leaf or so per slice for me, but adapt to taste)
- top with grated cheese
- grill until cheese bubbling and starting to brown.
For variety, use a mix of cheeses. Lunch today is some Red Leicester, Cheshire and a little strong cheddar, grated and mixed (mainly 'cos I've got a little of each left).
