    Just tried green tea....

I have avoided it before now because I've tried normal tea with no milk in and it's frankly nasty. I've tried poncy fuit teas and all tht, and they were HUGELY nasty... but this green tea with lemon innit (Tetley's) that I tried because it was the only stuff in the house is actually really nice, and I'll have a cup of that over a coffee at the moment.

    Just thought I'd share

    Re: Just tried green tea....

Ah, now you see I can't drink regular tea with milk in it - too greasy! I think green tea is just the unfermented version, isn't it?

I used to drink a bit of the green stuff when I was younger, it's an acquired taste, I think. Sometimes I used to find it a bit.. cabbagey..

I did feel very virtuous and healthy whenever I had a cup, I was told recently that you shouldn't drink it if you have high blood pressure though.

I hate ordinary tea, wont touch it, but Sally has just bought me half a kilo of Japanese green tea and reckons I will love it.

    Will report back later...

Oh - will a slice of lime do as well as lemon do you reckon ?
    Cheers, David

Writing half a kilo instead of 500g makes Sally sound like a right dealer

No idea - it's worth a try though. This stuff I've got has got the lemon infused in it already, so no need to slice any fruit up with it

    Lemon and lime O_o

I've always have mine just plain. Big pinch into my cup in the morning and keep it topped up with water. Lasts the entire day

    Re: Just tried green tea....

Single estate black tea(especially the ones from Sri Lanka) tastes very different to the normal stuff you get here. Brought some back and a lot of people have noticed how different it tastes as it has a much more subtle taste.

    Re: Just tried green tea....

Speeds up the metabolism too - can't drink the stuff too often, makes me sweat like a utterly unvirtuous woman in church.

Really important not to make Japanese Green tea - especially ones with the finer ground leaves - with just boiled water. Makes it very bitter.

For a visual, aromatic and pleasant tasting brew, try flowering teas - http://www.cantonteaco.com/flowering...FQ1lfAod2BofEg

    Re: Just tried green tea....

I prefer white tea myself, I find the green stuff too acerbic. The Tetley's stuff with lemon has the edge taken off it. I'm a big fan of peppermint tea and Moroccan lemon tea, but fruit teas in general are watery rubbish.

    Re: Just tried green tea....

I tried some my wife bought, but it made me feel nauseous. I prefer good quality breakfast tea, with as little milk as possible (very dark brown). She moved onto peppermint tea.
