    McDonalds Salads

    are blummin superb.

I kid you not one jot, I was shocked to the core of my soul

OK bit if an exaggeration (which I cant spell) BUT I had a Caesar Salad from McDonalds and except for the fact that they use very very low fat caesar dressing (that means lots of starch and stuff to thicken it where good oil should have been used) it was superb.

Good iceburg, lovely croutons, very VERY nice parmesan (really quite good indeed) and it was huge Nice bowl, fittied lid, good cutlery (clear plastic, strong)

very fresh and I will have one of those again soon.

Try it I cant be more pleasantly suprised

Was that the 'healthy option' salad where they were giving a voucher for a free burger to celebrate their birthday?

Each one has seven teaspoons worth of sugar in them, the KFC ones are better imo.

Yep the salads are always stored in a chiller before they are served. Chicken is kept warm untill someone orders it.

iirc, they have less salt than a burger but as much as 75% the fat content of a burger... unbelievable, but true!

As Mr Flibbles says, they're high in sugar too, but I have to say that its nice to see McDs at least making a move towards healthier eating...

tigg missus the suace MUST be low fat at least, cos it was like paper paste which my esteemed other hgalf informed me is cos the oil content was so low, to thicken it they use a starch powder.

HOWEVER.....when you eat that much salad you are BOUND to eat lots of sugar...but guys....its natural sugar. All fruit and vegetables have natural sugar. If they didnt have, there would be nothing left.

The chicke nis prob coated with a sweet couting with a few chemicals in too, and I AM WHOLE HEARTEDLY INTO HEALTHY FOOD AND AVOIDING CHEMICALS....but sugar is not that bad for you guys.

Nor, scarily, is salt, in moderation. If I took Decks kids (whom I love dearly) to McD's I would not think twice about them munching through one of those salads.....they are as good as you will get in a high street, for sensible money.

I am quite pro McDonalds BECAUSE they are selling what people wanna buy and they are doing their absolute damndest to make money, BUT they are also acting vastly more responsibly that other businesses with their kind of turnover. If they weren't they would sink without trace.

If I go again I will avoid the Caesar dressing tho....I'd like simply a tiny sachet of good Olive Oil...but they'd probably get slaughtered for that if they offered it cos Olive oil is fat after all ...

Heh, I work at maccas, and since them things have come out, we have been worked like donkeys to make the salads AND the old stuff!!!

But McDonalds have been REALY strict on how we cook the salad chicken and things like that (at least in Australia they have).. and its good to see some people actually like the salads and stuff

Personally I cant stand healthy foods, they just dont have that 'meaty' flavour
Give me a Double Quarter Pounder any day

I've tried one, and it was nice...for a salad

I still prefer my jumped up mega mac - thats a large megamac meal combined with the free hamburger i get with my student recovery card - much nicer

still i'm pissed at them for getting rid of supersize, ok so it will help all the phat ppl but for the ones like me who only have a MDs occasionally its a right pain [i only weigh 7.6 stone which aint bad for a 19yr old male student]

Bah if only there was a burger king in stafford, they still do supersize XLbacon double cheeseburger meals
